One of my favorite things about this gluten free alfredo sauce is that it is easy to make from scratch. This delicious recipe is one of my favorite gluten-free pasta sauce recipes because it has all of my favorite flavor profiles: garlic, olive oil, and parmesan.

There are different ways to make Alfredo. I prefer Alfredo without egg yolks. I tried to keep this homemade Alfredo recipe as simple as possible so everyone could make this recipe easily.

The best part about this creamy gluten free white sauce recipe is that it is much better than anything from a jar! It is made from simple ingredients and none of those hard-to-pronounce chemical additives. There is a reason Alfredo sauce is so popular at Italian restaurants!

  • Garlic – I use a garlic press to mince my garlic into tiny bits. Jarred garlic is okay, but the pieces of garlic are larger.
  • Heavy Cream – Use heavy whipping cream for this recipe. Half and half will not work.
  • Basil – fresh or dried is fine.
  • Olive Oil – Use extra virgin olive oil.
  • Parmesan Cheese – You can use only parmesan cheese or a combination including romano cheese.

Step 2: For best results, continue to simmer the sauce on low heat. Add the heavy cream and a splash of more olive oil. Turn up the temperature to medium-low heat and bring to a gentle boil.

It would be very difficult to use non-dairy milk products in this recipe and get that same classic flavor. Because of this, I have not tested this Alfredo with dairy-free alternatives. This is an excellent recipe to try if you are looking for vegan Alfredo sauce.

Instructions

  • In a pan, heat olive oil for 2 minutes over low heat. Add the minced garlic.

  • For best results, continue to simmer the sauce on low heat. Add the heavy cream and a splash of more olive oil. Turn up the temperature to medium-low heat and bring to a gentle boil. Simmer for 4-5 minutes.

  • Turn the head down to low and sprinkle in parmeasan cheese, salt, and pepper.

  • Simmer 2 minutes and drizzle on vegetables, or toss into cooked pasta.
