Individual Therapy

One of the best things about individual therapy is its ability to be modeled into exactly what each person needs. For this reason, Aspen Grove Wellness emphasizes a treatment approach that is highly individualized and collaborative. We abide by the principles of evidence-based practice, which calls for the integration of the best available research with clinical expertise in the context of a client’s characteristics, culture, and preference. We have providers who specialize in a range of treatment approaches, including cognitive behavioral therapy, trauma treatment, and interpersonal and relational therapies.

Child and Family Therapy

Family therapy allows a space for all members of the family system to express themselves openly and authentically. At Aspen Grove, we aim to support families in healing, reconnecting, and learning to parent from a place of compassion, while setting and upholding safe and healthy boundaries. We utilize an attachment-based lens, supporting the family in identifying moments of rupture and lack of safety to increase awareness and implement supports to heal their connection. With the goal of all members of the family system feeling seen, heard, and appreciated, we will work together to support each of you in advocating for your needs, setting appropriate boundaries, and developing the skills needed to manage distress.

CouplesTherapy

If you and your partner are experiencing frequent arguments and seeking support, marital counseling offers assistance. Trained therapists can guide you through couple counseling exercises, teaching effective communication methods to improve your relationship. While arguments are common in relationships, if they lead to fights, resentment, or unhealthy coping, seeking support can be beneficial. Partnering with an experienced couples therapist helps assess argument patterns and implement evidence-based strategies for strengthening your relationship.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy

Cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) is widely regarded as a leading form of mental health treatment. It is a talk therapy that effectively addresses symptoms of various mental health challenges and disorders such as anxiety, depression, OCD, PTSD, phobias, and substance use disorders. By identifying and replacing unhelpful thought patterns, CBT positively impacts emotions and behaviors.

Therapy for Depression

Nearly one in ten individuals in the United States report having depression. Major depressive disorder is the single most common psychiatric condition in the U.S. and is the strongest risk factor for suicidal behavior. Symptoms of depression range from depressed or irritable mood to inability to enjoy pleasurable activities and debilitating fatigue. Many effective and evidence-based treatments exist to alleviate and cope with the symptoms of depression. Remember, you are not alone.

Therapy for Anxiety

If you experience intense social anxiety that hinders your ability to feel safe or to engage with others, seeking help from a mental health professional can be beneficial. An estimated 31.1% of adults in the United States experience an anxiety disorder at some point in their lives. Therapy has been found effective in treating these symptoms. Treatment options can assist those with generalized anxiety or social anxiety, and our trained clinicians can help you determine a treatment that is suitable for you.

Therapy for Perinatal Mood and Anxiety Disorders

Perinatal mood and anxiety disorders refer to distressing feelings that may develop during one’s pregnancy or throughout the first year after pregnancy. While many parents will experience some mild mood changes during or after the birth of a child, 15-20% of women experience significant symptoms of depression or anxiety. Parents of every culture, age, income level, and race can develop perinatal mood and anxiety disorders. If you are currently experiencing symptoms during or following a pregnancy, remember that you are not alone, you are not to blame, and treatment can help.

Therapy for Grief

Grief can arise from various challenging situations, such as breakups, life transitions, or the loss of a loved one. Each person's experience of grief is unique in terms of timing and process, and personalized grief counseling can be valuable in offering support and guidance during this difficult period. Exploring the potential benefits of grief counseling help you cope with the stages of grief and work towards completing the tasks of mourning.

Therapy for Trauma

Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) can develop after a traumatic event, with symptoms including intrusive memories, avoidance, mood changes, and altered reactions. If untreated, these symptoms can slowly take over someone’s life, leaving them to think and act in ways that feel different than the person they were before the trauma. Therapy options like Interpersonal Reconstructive Therapy (IRT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), as well as Polyvagal Theory may be helpful in alleviating the distress associated with traumatic stressors. Connect with a therapist in-person or online to start receiving the support you need.

Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT)

CPT is a specific type of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) that has been shown to be effective in the treatment of PTSD and other trauma related disorders. Within CPT, individuals learn how to identify, evaluate, and challenge unhelpful thoughts that have been reinforced or changed because of their traumatic experience(s). Once an individual has developed the skills to identify and address these unhelpful thinking styles, they use these skills to continue evaluating and revising beliefs about safety, trust, power, control, esteem, and intimacy.

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)

EMDR is an evidenced-based therapeutic intervention that supports trauma processing and healing. Trauma can be defined as anything that affects your view of yourself and your world. Research demonstrates that trauma memories are stored in the language part of the brain – they are stored visually and viscerally (i.e. in the body). EMDR utilizes bilateral stimulation (i.e. back-and-forth movement), typically through eye movements or tapping, to target these memories in an accessible way. EMDR is associated with a reduction in the vividness and emotion associated with the trauma memories, reduction in symptoms and distress related to the impact of the trauma memories, and an increase in sense of self and positive beliefs about oneself and the world. In addition to treating trauma, EMDR has been proven to be effective for the treatment of anxiety, depression, OCD, chronic pain, addictions, and other distressing life experiences.

Polyvagal Theory (PVT)

PVT is a specific treatment built upon the principles of neuroscience that helps individuals understand and positively influence their nervous system. Of note, PVT provides psychoeducation on the way our bodies react to stress physiologically and neurobiologically. The goal of polyvagal theory is to decrease our tendencies to freeze or engage in fight or flight responses to heightened stress by activating our own neurobiological safety system. Specific skills targeting relaxation strategies and strengthening social connections are utilized to help achieve these goals.

Professional Supervision

If you are a mental health therapist, clinical social worker, or psychologist-in-training, our highly skilled and board-approved supervisors are available to discuss professional development and supervision options. Aspen Grove Wellness approaches supervision from a developmental lens, which begins with a thorough assessment of each trainee’s strengths and growth edges. We focus on supporting the entire individual through training options emphasizing technical skill, conceptualization, and professional development.
