This apple walnut salad brings you sweet and tangy flavors with greens. Very simple and easy to make. Just add a dash of lemon, a little quantity of maple syrup with some salt and you are set to munch on this apple walnut salad.
For a salad, I make sure not to use complex dressings. Surely they do add flavors but if time is a constraint or if you go as per calorie deficit diet, simply avoid them. Just by adding honey or maple syrup and lemon works great. Everyday eating apple is a habit in my house. It's not because of the quote "an apple a day keeps the doctor away", rather apples are considered great antioxidants and dietary fiber. Kids love munching on apple. Eating them first in the morning makes you feel full and satisfied whole day.

It is not recommended to make this apple walnut salad in advance. It starts leaving water content, color changes to brown and softens if cut for longer. Since it takes very less time if all ingredients in place so just mix everything together and serve. This salad quantity can be easily doubled or halved as per requirement. Let see how I prepared this sweet, tangy and crunchy Apply Walnut Salad.
Apple Walnut Salad Recipe
Ingredients 4 servings
3 Medium size apple (I used red apple)
1 Cup red leaf lettuce
1 Cup romaine leaf
¼ Cup chopped walnut
1 tablespoon silvered almond (optional, used for garnishing)
2 Tblsp maple syrup (you can use honey too)
Salt as per taste
2 Tblsp lemon juice
Method
- Wash apples nicely. I am skeptical about wax on apple's skin. So I peeled them and cut into pieces.
- Add apple pieces, walnuts, lettuce leaf and romaine leaf in a mixing bowl.
- To this add honey, lemon juice, and salt and mix thoroughly.
- Garnish with some silvered almonds serve this apple walnut salad immediately.
Notes
- You can use green apples as well. Use half the quantityof green and rest half with red apples to make it look colorful.
- Peeling apples is completely by choice. I prefer peeling them before consuming.
- Do not make in advance. Walnut becomes soggy, apples soften and salad tastes boring.
